If you were in central Texas on May 15th, 2008 about 10:00 pm you were in the same storm I was in that threatened more than 70,000 people with a few tornados. Yea tornados! I was thinking to myself what the hell am I doing in Texas in a tornado and I am a kid from Bahamas who is used to hurricanes coming around the end of August. Anyways I was there and I won’t forget it because I went outside with my camera to remember the moment.
How To Take A Photograph Of Lighten In A Storm?
I took my Nikon D70 outside when the storm was about 10 minutes away from after I came off the phone with my best friend back home telling him to make sure he gets the photographs out to the world if I die ? but for real I took my tripod out, got real low to the ground titled the camera up about 45 degrees with the camera on blub and held it for a few seconds and after a few times I was able to get that shot.
Taking photograph of lightning in a storm is risky and some sort of luck is need as well ? Unless you pick up your camera snap at the sky and get a luck shot that’s worth millions; I am not very lucky so what I did was put a high f stop example F 22 to let less light into the camera put it on blub and held the camera tight with pressure on the tripod to prevent shake, I have a remote for the camera but it was no time for that. I love the photo not saying it’s the best in the world but I wanted to share with you all how I did it if you were interested in taking a photo of lightning some day.
If you have photo of lightning I would be happy to see them if you add it in the comment box or if there is a storm near you sometime don’t go out and get killed but if you do happen to get a photograph of lightning share in it the comment box here.

Today we have a guest post by Erin Ray about the Nikon D70.
I am not real experienced with cameras, and to me as long as they take a photo they are all the same, but the Nikon D70 stands out above the rest in my mind. I am what most would call an amateur in the world of photography, and to my untrained eye this camera looks heavy duty and complicated, but it is in fact a digital camera that is easy for someone like me to operate. With 25 custom settings, this camera allows even someone with minimal experience such as my self, to take professional grade photos. It even allows you to shoot in an automatic or manual setting. This is beneficial to all skill levels of photographers, in the automatic setting a novice photographer can shoot breathtaking photos and the manual setting allows you to punch in your f-stop, giving you total control of the camera. The Nikon D70 also offers a 6.1 effective mega pixel DX format (even I know that’s powerful) and an image sensor that allows even beginners to take breathtaking photographs that will impress your friends and family.
One feature that I found particularly interesting on this camera was its ability to shoot lightning fast 3 frames per second and 144 pictures in rapid secession. This is due to the faster image processing and advanced memory card capabilities. This would be a perfect feature for anyone who is into capturing action shots at a friend or family’s sporting event (or at the skate park with your boyfriend as I am right now.)
Although the D70 comes with countless features, some I didn’t mention were an optical viewfinder that features high magnification, on-demand grids, and display menus with simple or detailed information that all aid in quality of composition, it is incredibly lightweight. It is compact and easy to travel with which makes it the perfect tool to capture all your memories. Also making it good for people that are on-the-go is the built-in creative lighting system that allows you to adjust to any type of light and take photos in or outdoors.
Overall this camera is so versatile and adaptable to any skill and interest level of photographer. The Nikon D70 is lightweight, allowing you to capture the moment anywhere and anytime. It is easy to operate, but full of high quality custom features that combine to create flawless photos.

In this video provided by SnapFactory blog of Digital Photography One On One you will learn how your lens choices impact your portraits. The video explains why the same lens for example the Canon 70-200 Lens what is a frickin great lens and used for sports photography can also be used as a great lens for portrait photography. The Cannon 70-200 f2.8L was recommend because it helps get rid of distortion and cluttered images but you can also try the Sigma AF 18-200 I shot with that lens on a friend of mines camera, watch the video and enjoy.
Humanitarian Photographer David Duchemin travels and takes photographs for people like world vision for fun rising etc. Duchemin, a phenomenal photographer, gave tips on photoshop shop user tv for people who are interested in travel photography:
Many people ask, “How do you shoot people?” Duchemin says the key to it is to be kind, be friendly to people; go up to them and ask for their photograph to be taken.
He wants us to know that most people get extremely excited when they are asked for their photograph to be taken; it’s like telling that person, “hey you are beautiful I want to take a photograph of you.” ? I remember my photography teacher Tim Keating at the Savannah College of Art and Design saying the same thing.
David Duchemin travels and takes photographs of people, he recommend that you focus on the detail and uniqueness of a person example going out and shoot the textures of their hands etc. something that gives information about that persons culture or about your subject. You must remember that the person who is looking at the photo wasn’t there with you or with you and your buddies so they don’t remember the scent that was around you all or how huge the building in the background was. He advise that you fill your frame, use you frame to capture that moment.
Honestly this guys work is extremely phenomenal, like no kidding! Reason why I chose to write on him was because he reminded me of some humanitarian photography I did for a charity my company sponsors “A Little Help From My Friends” you can click that link to see the photos I did and you can click “David Duchemin” to check out some of his photography.
